Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Section 14(1) (as amended)

North Yorkshire County Council has made an Order, which is to prohibit any pedestrian from proceeding along Public Footpath 20.9/22/1, 20.9/7/2, 20.10/3/1, 20.9/17/1, 20.9/15/2 and Public Bridleways 20.10/7/1, 20.10/4/2, 20.12/8/1, 20.12/7/1 near Brompton on Swale, in the District of Richmondshire to safeguard the public during the construction of the upgrade of the A1 to motorway status.
The maximum duration of the Order will be from 03.03.14 until 03.09.14 inclusive and it is envisaged that the works will be undertaken over this timescale. The closure will be put into effect by notices and signs.
There is an alternative route available for the section of the Coast to Coast route that has had to be closed. For this at grid reference SE21219944 turn South East and walk approximately 1 kilometre to meet the A6136 Catterick Road, continue on the wide footway for another kilometre and continue to follow the road over the A1. When you reach the eastern side of the A1 continuefor approximatelyanother 100 metersbeforeturning North East onto the dismantled railway which will cross the River Swale. After crossing the River Swale from the South turn East along the Public footpath to join back up to the Coast to Coast route.
