A689 BUTTERWICK TO WYNYARD

(A689 BUTTERWICK TO WYNYARD) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE, CONTRAFLOWS & PROHIBITION OF TURNS) ORDER 2014

The Council, on 31.10.14, made an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, to prohibit/restrict traffic from proceeding as follows on the under-mentioned lengths of roads by reason of carriageway resurfacing works proposed to be executed: (A) Close to vehicular traffic : (1) The central reserve crossovers / farm access crossovers from and including that opposite the junction with Beacon Farm, Butterwick and extending easterly to and including that opposite the access to Station Cottages, Wynyard, as required. (B) Prohibitions/Contra-flows and Road Closure: (1) To prohibit the movement of vehicular traffic over that 2.94km length of road of A689 (westbound) between the strategic central reserve crossover point immediately east of the Gateway Footbridge adjacent to Station House, Wynyard and the junction opposite with Beacon Farm, Butterwick: (a) No person shall cause any vehicle to enter or proceed in one or more lanes of the southwest bound carriageway of the length of road specified in Article B(1) of this Order and (b) During the closure of the west bound carriageway specified in Article B(1)a above, no person shall cause any vehicle to:- (i) enter or proceed in the offside lane of that length of eastbound carriageway as specified in Article B(1) above, other than in a westerly direction; (ii) overtake any moving vehicle in that length of eastbound carriageway; or (iii) To make a U-turn in that length of eastbound carriageway. (2) To prohibit vehicular traffic from making a right turn from the following junction with A689, (and vice versa): a. Beacon Farm; b. Old Acres Lodge Farm; c. C23 Butterwick Road; d.Old Acres Bungalow; e. Old Acres Hall Farm; f. Newlands; g. Tilery Cottage; h. Station House/Cottages; and i. Car Park north of A689 opposite Station House.
The maximum duration of the temporary closure under the Order is 18 months and is required from 7.00am on Friday 14.11.14 and for the duration of the works anticipated to be 9 days. However, on rare occasions, alternative dates for closures may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic during central reserve crossover closures and no right turn restrictions via A689 to and around (a) A689/A177 Roundabout, Sedgefield or (b) A689 Wynyard Village Roundabout, to A689.
