DARLINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

DARLINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990, SECTION 69 HAUGHTON-LE-SKERNE CONSERVATION AREA

NOTICE IS GIVEN under the provisions of Sections 69 and 70 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 that Darlington Borough Council has determined that the area described in Schedule A to this Notice (an area of special architectural or historic interest designated as a Conservation Area) shall be extended to include the area described in Schedule B.
A plan showing the boundaries of the Conservation Area is on deposit at Darlington Borough Council and may be inspected at any time during office hours. The new area of land which is intended to be added to the existing Conservation Area is shown cross-hatched on the said plan.
The principal effects of this area being included within a Conservation Area are as follows:
1) The Council is under a duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation or enhancement of a Conservation Area.

2) Consent must be obtained from the Council for the demolition of any building in a Conservation Area.

3) Consent must be obtained from the Council to cut, top, lop, uproot, wilfully damage or wilfully destroy any tree within the boundaries of a Conservation Area.

4) Six weeks' notice must be given to the Council before works are carried out to any tree in a Conservation Area.

5) Special publicity must be given to planning applications for development in as Conservation Area.

6) In carrying out any functions under the planning Acts (and, in particular, in determining applications for planning permission and listed building consent) the Council and the Secretary of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of a Conservation Area.

SCHEDULE
A. Existing Conservation Area

Land including Mews Court, Ted Fletcher Court and all of Haughton Green running west to east to the beginning of Stockton Road. Also including St Andrew's Close and Kennel Lane to the south of Haughton Green and Rymers Court and Rose Lane to the north of Haughton Green. Ending at the Highland Laddie Public House, no. 88 Haughton Green.
B. Extension of Conservation Area

Land including nos. 1, 2,3,4,5, 6, 7, 9,11,13,17,19,21, 23, 27 (Walton & Leigh Dental Surgery), 29,31, 33 (Klippers Hairdressers), 35,37,39, 41,43,45,47 & 49 Stockton Road north-eastwards from H aught on Green, including Oak Lodge Care Home. It does not includenos. 26, 28,30,32,34, 36 and 38 Stockton Road.
