(A689 SANDS HALL ROUNDABOUT TO LITTLE CHEF ROUNDABOUT, SEDGEFIELD) (TEMPORARY CONTRAFLOWS, PROHIBITIONS, SPEED LIMIT RESTRICTION, WEIGHT LIMIT RESTRICTION & ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2016
The Council, on 08/07/16 made an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, to prohibit/ restrict/close the undernoted lengths of roads to all vehicular traffic to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken: (A) Road Closure: Prohibit vehicular traffic from travelling easterly on the eastbound carriageway of A689 from its junction with A177 Sands Hall Roundabout; Alternative route: from A689 Sands Hall Roundabout via C38 Station Road to West End, turning easterly onto High St. & Stockton Rd. to A689 / then southerly to A177 Little Chef Roundabout. (B) Speed Limit Restriction: Prohibit all vehicular traffic from driving at a speed in excess of 40mph along: (i) A689 easterly from 100m east of circulatory road of the A177 Sands Hall Roundabout, Sedgefield to (ii) below; and (ii) A689 westerly from 400m east of the eastern nib of the central reserve crossover leading to Donnewell Farm to (i) above. (C) Contraflows & Prohibition of movement on: (a) A689 between the central reserve crossover 380m east of Sands Hall Roundabout and the central reserve crossover opposite Donnewell Farm, Sedgefield & including the circulatory carriageway of the A689/A177 Little Chef Roundabout, during which: (i) No person shall cause any vehicle to enter or proceed in one or more lanes of the carriageway of the lengths of road specified in item (C) during the resurfacing works as indicated on site by appropriate signs; or (ii) during the closure of the section of dual carriageway specified in item (C) above, no person shall cause any vehicle to: 1. Enter or proceed in the offside lane of the opposing lengths of the carriageway as specified in item (C) above, other than in a converse direction; 2. Overtake any moving vehicle in that length of carriageway; 3. Make a right turn to/from road junctions in that section of carriageway; or 4. To make a U-turn in that length of carriageway. Alternative routes: (i) from A177 westerly on A689 to and around Sands Hall Roundabout and returning eastbound along A689 to A689 Sedgefield-Hartlepool; and (ii) from A689 easterly to and around Wynyard Roundabout and returning westbound along A689 to A177 Sedgefield-Stockton. (D) Suspension of Weight Limit: suspension of The County Council of Durham (Roads C37 and C38, Sedgefield and Mordon Areas) (7.5 Tonnes Operating Weight Restriction) Order 1983 on Road C38 between A689/ A177 Sands Hall Roundabout through Sedgefield Village and along High St. and Stockton Rd. to A689 north east of A689 (defined in items 1 & 2);The max. duration of the temporary closure order is 18 months and is required from 7pm on 21/07/16 and for the duration of the works, anticipated to be 11 days. However, on rare occasions, alternative dates for closures may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
