SANDERSON Mary On March 3, peacefully after a short illness, of Sycamore Hall, Bainbridge, formerly of Woodburn Drive, Leyburn and Downholme, Mary Annie Cecilia “nee Brown” aged 90 years. Beloved wife of the late James Metcalfe “Jim” Sanderson, dearly loved mother of Peter and Richard, much loved mother-in-law of Deborah, dearly loved grandma of James and a very dear aunt and cousin. Funeral service at St Matthews Church, Leyburn on Saturday, March 12, at 1.00pm, followed by interment at Leyburn Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations if desired will be shared between Church funds, Leyburn Band and The Friarage Hospital Scanner Appeal (Plate in Church) or may be sent c/o Sanderson & Co Funeral Directors, Leyburn Business Park, Harmby Road, Leyburn, N Yorks, DL8 5QA. Will friends please meet at the Church.

Peter and Richard - our sympathy and prayers are with you on this sad occasion of the loss of your mum. Although we live in Stoke-on-Trent, I lived in Woodburn Drive from the age of one (1949) to age six. I've always kept in touch with Mrs Sanderson over all these years and she has been a source of encouragement to us in faith and in life. As a little boy, before you were born, I used to ride up to the Sanderson's house on my trike, knock on the door and ask your mum "Is your daddy coming out to play!" I meant Mr Sanderson!! He used to sing 'Old Man River' in a deep voice to me. Happy memories of a wonderful lady! Cedric (and Jean) Barber
