Got engaged 9/9/2009 in Whitby and visited Robin Hoods Bay same day. Had cup of tea in R.H.Bay church where we met Hector who congratulated us in his booming voice, wrapped us both in a big bear hug and gave us a ceramic swan from the church bring and buy sale. He said that as long as we have the swan then we would live happily ever after. It will forever be on our bookcase shelf. Looked at the swan today and of course got thinking about Hector so decided to Google his name in connection with the church and am so shocked to see that he died this very week. Is this the biggest coincidence after all this time? Farewell Hector - we will never forget you and thank you for making our engagement day so special because you really did. We often recount this memory. You told us of your life events leading you to associate with the church and we hope you stayed your new life course. Here is a picture I took that day with the 'groom-to-be'. RIP Hector.
