I'm looking for celebrationsJohn Raymond HANKIN

HANKIN John Raymond (Ray) Ray passed away suddenly on Monday 13th, December 2021 from a heart condition whilst out riding one of his motorbikes. This was a great shock to all those nearest and dearest to him. He leaves behind his loving wife Beryl, his beloved brother and sisters Laurence, Madeleine, Veronica and their spouses, nephews, nieces and other family members, plus many, many excellent friends, colleagues and students. He would want us to remember his late parents Francis and Edith and brothers Edmund and Richard in this notice too. Ray lectured at Darlington College of Technology and was interested and involved in more activities and interests than there is space to list here. He was full of positivity and plans right up to the day this world sadly lost him. He always strove to be "worth his salt" well Ray, all of us who knew you can vouch for the fact you certainly achieved that wish and more. Ray's funeral will be conducted by Fr G Ryan and will take place at St Augustine's R C Church, 30, Coniscliffe Road, Darlington, DL3 7RC, at 11 am, on Wednesday 12th, January 2022 (parking is available in the grounds of the church hall opposite the back entrance to the church in Larchfield Street). The service will be followed by a private cremation. Family flowers only please. Ray's family would be very grateful if friends would raise a glass to him in their own good time. R.I.P., lovely lad you will be greatly missed and never forgotten by all of us who loved and respected you and by those you have helped and inspired during your long, productive and very worthwhile time on earth. If people do want to leave any donations after the service, those will be passed to the family of eighteen-year-old Harvey McWilliams who recently took his own life. Ray would have been devastated if he had known of this as one of his roles in life was to help safeguard the mental health of young people.
