LUDIMAN William Bill passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday 14th of May aged 92 years. He was the dearly beloved husband of Pat, much loved father to Andrew and Mark, father-in-law to Charlotte and Helen and loving grandad to Millie, Harry, Jemima, Asta and Max. As uncle Bill, he was an adored family member of Anne and Peter, their daughters Sally and Jo, their husbands and children. He spent almost 20 years serving with distinction in the Gloucestershire Regiment, including in the Korean war where the regiments heroics gained them the nickname of the Glorious Glosters. As a member of the British Army, he served at the funeral of King George VI and at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. His final posting in the army was as an OTC instructor at Birmingham University where he met his beloved Pat. Shortly after they married, they moved to Thirkleby where they lived for the rest of their lives, raising their two boys, loving village life and enjoying the multitude of characters they encountered along the way and making life-long friends. Service to take place at All Saints Church, Great Thirkleby at 4.00pm on 30th May, followed by wake at Forresters Arms, Kilburn. Friends, please meet at church. No flowers please, donations in lieu if so desired to Herriot Hospice.Your tribute has been received.
