THE Spennithorne and Harmby Villages Show saw a record level of entries in its 29th year.
Competition at Harmby Village Hall was fierce but friendly. With a queue forming before the doors opened to admit competitors, the entries were all in place on time.
Following a morning’s judging, the afternoon saw a rush to see how entries had fared. There was then time to peruse the display of the more than 600 entries.
Tom Knowles of Leyburn presented trophies to winners of the individual sections. The overall winner with the most points in the competition went to Margaret Eden of Leyburn. The Young People’s Trophy winner was Grace Webster from Spennithorne.
Jonah Sebright, from Switzerland, visiting his grandparents, won the Maureen Dinsdale Trophy as winner of the handwriting class.
Norma Croft, one of the organisers, said: “With over 600 entries I think it is a record. Next year as it is our 30th show we hope to do something special.”
