Craig Owen returns to the Cleveland area this month for a charity concert.

Born in Guisborough, he has performed across the world with famous performers such as Tina Turner and Sir Cliff Richard. His concert on Sunday, October 28, is with his own band at Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar, and will raise money for the Mayor of Redcar’s chosen charities.

Having started playing the violin at the age of six, he was discovered by record producer Pete Waterman which led to a record deal and a number one album, Duel, in the UK classical charts.

He has performed all over the world as a soloist and with stars.

He has featured on Classic FM, performing his new composition, Amor, and Song for Hong Kong for solo violin.

Now based in Manchester, he is returning to perform popular classics, including classical, tango, musicals, film themes and Grappelli jazz, with his band.

The concert starts at 7.30pm.

Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets cost £12 and are available from Redcar tourist information (01642- 471921), Saltburn Health Foods (01287-624622), Greensleeves Music Shop in Guisborough (01287-636028), Bike Scene in Guisborough (01287-610735) or the mayor’s office (01642-444501).

The mayor, Coun Denise Bunn, said: “I am thrilled that Craig is coming back to his home area to help us raise money for three fantastic charities.”
