BUSINESSES are invited to three training and networking events across the Dales in the coming months organised by the four local business associations through the Dales Business Forum.

They are at the Fountain, Hawes, on Wednesday at 6pm; The Station, Richmond, on November 21; and the Buck, Reeth, on December 6.

Gillian Howells, forum co-ordinator, said: “At our conference in Middleham we discovered that there was a demand for more events that support and develop local businesses, so we have organised a series of taster events to introduce people to some excellent local services and training that can help improve their business.”

The forum was set up by local business people who were conscious that a number of external support agencies had come and gone over the years, but businesses remain and still need help and support to develop.

“We’ve an incredible wealth of experience and expertise among members so the forum has set up a formal structure, the not for profit Yorkshire Business Aid, to give businesses access to this valuable and affordable local resource,” said Gillian.

The two-hour event includes an introduction to using social media in a business context; opportunities presented by the new Yorkshire Markets and Dales Business Directory web and benefits offered through Yorkshire Business Aid.

David Doorbar, one of the YBA mentors said: “We are passionate about business and are keen to help other business people. Whether its cash flow and business planning, increasing profit and turnover, or finding new customers and growing the business we can help. An experienced business mentor can make a big difference to a small business.”

The events cost £5 and are open to anyone in business including those thinking of starting up. Book on 01748-825362, eventsinthedales.org or simply turn up on the night.

The forum brings together the four local Richmondshire Business Associations – Richmond Business and Tourism; Leyburn and Mid Wensleydale Business; The Business Association (Wensleydale) Ltd; Swaledale and Arkengarthdale Business Forum – working with Richmondshire District Council, Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Enterprise Partnership.
