Darlington Orchestra Winter Concert , Central Hall, Dolphin Centre, Darlington, on Saturday, 7.30pm

THE orchestra will present a varied programme ranging from 17th Century classics to 20th Century favourites from stage and screen – such as My Fair Lady, Evita and themes from Star Wars. THE all-female group delivers an almost note-for-note reproduction of that historic album with lead singer Shannon Conley providing a little bit of a twang to her rendition of Robert Plant’s vocal gymnastics and guitarist Steph Paynes proving she is a dynamite student of the Jimmy Page school of wizardry as she faithfully delivers a mirror image of the fretwork originally laid down by Mr Page. Edo Pop: Urban Heroes in Japan, Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate

TAKE a glimpse into the colourful contemporary culture of 19th century Japan in an intriguing exhibition of EdoPop prints. These colourful wood-block prints, featuring urban celebrities, actors, sports champions, fashion icons and villains, were mass produced and eagerly sought after by fans of Edo’s (now Tokyo) pop culture.
