Inspiration of Spring, new exhibition at Nunnington Hall, York and Rievaulx Terrace
THE exhibition marks the first time a joint exhibition has been held between the two National Trust sites of Nunnington Hall and Rievaulx Terrace. The display of photographs submitted as winning entries to the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition will be on display.
The photographs capture the magic and beauty of the natural world, with categories in the exhibition including: beauty of plants, wildlife in the garden, wildflower landscapes, beauty in the garden and trees, woods and forests.
The exhibition will be shown at Nunnington Hall as part of their changing exhibition programme until Sunday, March 22. The exhibition at Rievaulx will be open until Sunday, April 19.
An Evening with War Horse Songman Bob Fox, The Witham, Barnard Castle, on Saturday, 8pm
BOB Fox has played the role of Songman in War Horse for the past three years, both in the West End and currently in the UK, Ireland and South Africa touring production. Join him as he performs the songs from the multi-award winning smash hit War Horse, with additional material from his own personal repertoire – a number of stories and songs built up from his 40-year career in the music industry. Twice nominated as Folk Singer of the Year at the BBC Folk Awards, Bob has long been a favourite on the live circuit. THE History Wardrobe presents a wonderfully nostalgic presentation about rationed fashion during the Second World War, celebrating the good humour and hard work of the make-do-and-mend era. Hearts and Flowers children's trail, Castle Howard, on Friday/Saturday

Vikings, Pirates and Dragons, Yorkshire Museum, York, on Saturday, 3pm
A SPECIAL screening of the DreamWorks animation, How to Train Your Dragon, on the full-sized cinema screen, and some fun activities throughout the school holidays. This family favourite film features Hiccup the Viking who befriends an injured dragon he calls Toothless.
