A LEADING not-for-profit hospital based in Tees Valley has appointed a new business development manager to promote its work and services to prospective and existing patients and other medical professionals throughout the region.
Mark Throw has recently been appointed by Nuffield Health Tees Hospital in Norton, Stockton-on-Tees to oversee the sales and marketing of the hospital. He is tasked to help spread the word about the cutting edge and ground-breaking healthcare provisions available to private, insured and NHS patients.
“Everyone has been really welcoming since my arrival in post. The whole team has a good focus on where they want the hospital to be over the next five years. These are exciting times with some good challenges ahead. I'm really looking forward to getting my teeth into the work coming up,” said Mark.
Mark has been working in the healthcare sector for over eleven years specialising in the medical manufacturing industries. He also worked for an independent ambulance company in Darlington.
Mark studied in the North East at Darlington Technical College, Gateshead College and Durham College. He currently holds a CIM marketing certificate and Management Level 4 qualification.
Nuffield Health has been looking after people for over 60 years. The organisation runs a network of hospitals, medical clinics, fitness and wellbeing clubs and diagnostic units across the UK.
Nuffield Health Tees Hospital is one of 31 private hospitals providing specialist healthcare services. The hospital has 154 permanent and 40 to 50 bank staff.
Mark, aged 43, currently lives in Darlington with his wife Bev and children Hope, aged 12 and Maisie aged 9. He is originally from Bolton in Lancashire but moved to Darlington with his parents as a teenager and he has called it home ever since.
Mark has a great love of British Superbikes especially as his brother-in-law was a former professional rider. Mark’s claim to fame is that he used to be involved with the 90s smash TV hit ‘Gladiators’. It all came about when his wife Bev was going to be a contestant on the show and she ended up running a number of the fan clubs.
Mark concludes: “One of the great features of this role is the opportunity to meet and speak with a wide variety of different people including patients, GPs and hospital consultants. Our health is one of the most important personal commodities that we have and it’s our mission at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital to ensure we can help in any way we can.”
