INSPIRATIONAL fund raiser Cath Muir who suffers from motor neurone disease has been presented with a special tribute from the Prime Minister after raising more than £60,000 while making meals for vulnerable people and creating greeting cards during the pandemic.
MP Rishi Sunak presented Cath with the Boris Johnson Points of Light award virtually. Cath, from Richmond, who formerly ran a tea rooms was diagnosed with Motor Neurone disease in 2014 but has carried on raising money for the support group nationally and locally and during the pandemic making meals in her specially converted garage for vulnerable and elderly people. Mrs Muir previously ran the Cross View Tea Room in Richmond with her husband Ian.
Rishi Sunak said: "“Despite of the impact of this terrible disease Cath just hasn’t stopped helping people in her community during this incredibly difficult year. She is truly inspirational and a shining light during dark times." The Points of Light award recognises outstanding individual volunteers, every day someone, somewhere in the country is selected to receive the award. Past recipients include Captain Tom.
Cath said it was a lovely surprise to receive the award.
