THE games are coming thick and fast now for Wensleydale Creamery League teams and the toll is starting to tell on some who are battling with injuries and players being unavailable.

Richmond Town Reserves are relishing the challenge however. After beating Catterick Garrison 6-0 last Tuesday they went on to put four past Leyburn without reply.

Goals from Josh Wooff, Nathan Simpson, Edward Lewington and Ronan Donoghue were enough to send Town top of the table on goal difference.

Unicorn remain second after a battling 3-2 win over Hawes.

Jordan Iveson put the Wensleydale team 1-0 up after good work from Tom Wallis.

But two from Liam Reeves and a Hawes own goal gave Unicorn the win, despite Jordan Iveson narrowing the gap when he lobbed the keeper in the closing stages.

Carperby have improved hugely this season and their 2-1 win over Catterick Garrison was not the surprise it would have been in previous years.

Scott Lambert skipped through three challenges to slot the ball through for Matt Weatherald to finish well for the first Carperby goal.

Catterick managed to equalise just before half-time through Sanny Lingthep, but Carperby got the winner 13 minutes from time when Scott Lambert sent the keeper the wrong way.

Spennithorne are another team having a decent season with Richmond Buck the latest to lose to the Dales team.

Spenni managed to just about reverse the result of the opening day fixture between the two teams last September, were it not for Buck scoring what turned out to be a consolation goal after half-time with what looked like a very dubious goal by Ben McGarrell from a Stewart Fotheringham corner.

Buck had been put to the sword by the brilliant Scott Ryan in the first half, and a fluid Spenni team that was supplying him.

First it was Ryan’s cross that was unluckily deflected in by Buck centre back Paul Brown for his first own goal of the afternoon.

Ryan then made it two by delightfully controlling a defence splitting ball over the top from Daniel Walker and, sensing that Buck keeper Andy D’Arcy was off his line, Ryan dinked the ball up and over D’Arcy into the far corner. Ryan made it 0-3 from eight yards with unerring accuracy just inside the post.

In the second half and after Buck thought they might be back in with a sniff of a chance after McGarrell’s hand of God moment, however another unlucky own goal from Brown after a stinging cross hit him and ended in the net.

Finally the Buck again messed it up after a cross was hacked at and deflected by McGarrell at the near post, deceived Brown in the centre and was gobbled up at the far post by Ryan for a deserved hat trick and proverbial match ball winning moment.

Richmond Mavericks meanwhile are through to the quarter finals of the North Riding Saturday Challenge Cup after a 11-2 demolition of Marton Abbey.
