WELSH superstar Tom Jones has thrilled his North-East fans with a spectacular show at Darlington Arena.
The music legend, who had been due to perform in Darlington in 2020, sang hits from his career which spans several decades.
The gig had been postponed on several occasions, but the 81-year-old was finally able to perform in front of a Darlington audience this evening.
With a career spanning more than 50 years, Jones has more recently been a voice coach on ITV programme The Voice.
The warm-up acts last night included Leeds-based Indie-folk band The Dunwells, along with Chris Simmons and Megan McKenna.
Music fans have had a weekend to remember as live concerts made a return to Darlington Arena for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
Darlington’s Mowden Park hosted two major events over the weekend, attracting thousands of fans on both nights, who were clearly pleased to be returning to normality.
On Saturday, thousands of people descended on the arena to hear Murs perform some of his best-loved hits.
The Essex singer, who rose to fame on the X Factor in 2009, entertained with renditions of popular tunes like Troublemaker, Heart Skips a Beat and ended the show with Dance With Me Tonight.
Murs, who was performing for the first time in Darlington, also dedicated a song to friend and TV presenter Caroline Flack, who died in 2020, asking the audience to help educate children and themselves and urged them to ‘be kind’ online.
