THIS weekend saw Northcote Stud, Blackburn, host its Winter Classic Show with the Winter Grand Prix taking place, and it was Paul Barker from Northallerton, riding Green Grass owned by Hannah Barker, who took the win.
From a keen starting field, just six combinations jumped clear in the first round over course designer Nigel Jess’s 12-fence track for a place in the jump off.
With speed on his side, Paul made light work of the eight-fence jump off track to cross the finish line in just 32.60 seconds, taking the win with nearly two seconds to spare.
Second place went to Robert Murphy riding High Quality III owned by Lisa Holmes with a solid double clear that stopped the clock on 34.07 seconds.
Third place was filled by Yazmin Davis and Zanbowa Z who produced the final double clear of the class in a time of 36.64 seconds.
