A POPULAR car boot sale which has raised thousands of pounds for charities and local community groups is set to start again on March 12.
The Bedale car boot sale has been held on Saturday’s from March to October for many years on the town’s park attracting visitors from all over North Yorkshire and the North East.
But over the past two years it has been hit by repeated issues because of the lockdowns and restrictions, with none held in 2020, and sales only held in later months last year.
It’s run through Bedale Town Council which invites local charities and community groups to help operate individual events, collecting for their organisations at the sales.
A draw has been held to decide which groups should be the beneficiaries on different dates, which has been published by the council and they’re now looking forward to starting the sales.
Mayor Councillor Andrew Hallett said: “We are looking forward to being able to run a full year's car boot sales, with lots of sellers and buyers and 30 local organisations raising money for good causes. With a funfair, music festival, several concerts from our bandstand, and events celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, we are looking forward to Bedale Park being back at the centre of our community in 2022."
