THE newly formed Darlington RFC U13 girls team extended their winning streak with a victory against Richmond.
The fledgling squad is growing week by week and everyone at the club is committed to helping this new group flourish.
Dan Miller, director of rugby at Darlington RFC, who is passionate about developing the girls section at Blackwell Meadows, said: "As a club we have long held successful minis sections and a ladies team however it is the gap in the middle which has been the missing part of our jigsaw.
"The formation of this new team allows us to further develop the future of the ladies game - supported by long standing coaches and players from within our club. All coaches hold all of the necessary qualifications to protect and mentor the development of those taking part."
One of the new members is 12 year old Izzy Killeen whose mum Fiona is thrilled at the welcome they have received at the club. "Izzy has made a positive start to rugby at Darlington due to the friendly and supportive players and coaches," she said. "The encouragement given to all of the girls really spurs them on to do their best."
Training sessions for the girls squad run at Blackwell Meadows every Sunday at 12.30pm and on Tuesdays from 6pm to 7pm. All are welcome regardless of experience.
