A MAN has been arrested after a car crashed through the front doors at a North Yorkshire auction house.
The incident happened at Tennants Auctioneers in Leyburn on Monday afternoon.
Police and firefighters attended after concerns someone could have been trapped in the vehicle which ploughed across the pavement area at the side of the building and into the reception area.
A spokesperson for Tennants said the incident was an accident and nobody was injured.
North Yorkshire Police said: “We received a report from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service of a minor collision which took place at the Tennant’s auction house in Leyburn.
“A car struck the building but fortunately there were no injuries reported.
“A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving. A 57-year-old man has been charged with driving while over the prescribed limit for alcohol. He is due to appear at Harrogate Mags on Feb 17.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said nobody was trapped or injured and small tools were used by crews to get the vehicle from the building and make the scene safe.
