GUISBOROUGH Town FC and DC Training held a charity event at their clubhouse to raise funds for Gemma Lee, wife of Hartlepool FC manager, Graeme.
Gemma is currently fighting a battle against brain cancer and is receiving treatment which costs about £5,000 per month. In the recent FA Cup match when Hartlepool played at Crystal Palace, the home supporters donated £1,000 towards the cost of the treatment.
That kick-started a wave of donations to the mum-of-two's online fundraiser, which now stands at more than £80,000.
The event, held by Guisborough Town FC and DC Training, starred former Boro player Dean Windass and comedian Gary Marshall, and raised more than £5,000 towards the fund for Gemma.
The mother of two was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2019 and at one point was given 12 months to live, with treatment. The tumour cannot be operated on and initial treatment was not effective, but the 41-year-old has been reacting well to drugs being trialled in Germany.
