A POPULAR steeple chase is marking its 75th anniversary later this month.
Bedale Point to Point will take place at Hornby Castle on Saturday, April 9.
Organisers are promising it will be bigger and better than ever with thousands of spectators expected at the race, where the Grand National will also be screened live.
Clerk of the Course David Ford said: “It is a beautiful parkland location, just five miles from Catterick Garrison. Visitors will be treated to not only the thrilling steeple-chasing, there are new attractions alongside the National live on our giant screen.
"We will have a new kids’ zone with fun for all the family, featuring a range of activities such as go-karting, pony rides, rugby demonstrations and a bouncy castle, we’re expecting this will provide a new dimension to the event this year. There is also a farmers’ market which will be a popular addition.”
Six steeplechases will be contested, including the £1,000 Lowes Financial Management Ladies’ Open Race.
The gates open at 11am with the first race at 1.30pm. Entry is £12.50 with under 16s free.
