GOING Dutch took on a new meaning this week as a range of premium beef cuts from Yorkshire were unveiled on the Dutch market.
EBLEX Ltd, the new industry body for beef and lamb levy-payers in England, unveiled the range - called Yorkshire's Perfect Steak - at the Kookfabriek food workshop and restaurant of Dutch TV chef Pierre Wind.
The beef originates from selected cattle, specially processed and matured in Yorkshire.
Jean-Pierre Garnier, EBLEX export manager, said: "The Dutch food scene is evolving fast with a growing number of high-class and Michelin-starred restaurants.
"We are clearly targeting this range to the top end of the market in order to create added value for British farmers and processors."
The Netherlands is the single largest market for UK beef, and imported 19,606 tonnes in 2007, but exports of premium quality beef can be developed further.
