GOLFERS are being invited to take to the green for an annual competition raising money for local good causes.
The Mayor's Golf Day tees off at Stressholme Golf Centre, in Darlington, on Friday, June 6.
The event has proved hugely popular in the past, with dozens of teams entering each year and raising thousands of pounds for charity.
Darlington Borough Council is organising the contest and this year's main sponsor is law firm Austin Sanders.
Paul Austin, a partner at Austin Sanders, said: "We are extremely proud to be associated with such a fantastic cause.
"We have participated in the Mayor's Charity Golf Day for the last few years and are grateful for the opportunity to be principal sponsor this year.
"The Mayor's Charity has been fantastically successful in raising funds, and the mayor is to be heartily congratulated for such fine work.
"All of those taking part in these events have a great time, with the added bonus that, ultimately, they will greatly assist those less fortunate "
Brunch will be served for participants when they arrive, there will be halfway refreshments on the course and a hot buffet and presentation when the competition is finished.
The longest drive and nearest pin competitions are sponsored by Upex Electrical Distributors, Hayton and Lamb, the John Wade Group and The Northern Echo.
The event is sponsored by Viviente and Bountiful Baskets and supported by Alpha FM.
The cost of entry in the competition is £140 per team. To book places or for further information, telephone 01325-388411.
