THE first farmers' market of the year in Middleton in Teesdale takes place on Sunday with a St George's Day theme.
There will be people dressed up as peasants roaming the streets and old-style games for children.
The youth drama group The Turrets will perform traditional street theatre throughout the day and music will come from medieval singing group Concordia.
Anyone who goes to the tourist information centre dressed as a peasant will receive a free gift.
This year's markets will be held in Hill Terrace car park on the high street, behind the fountain. Free parking is available in the auction mart.
The market, which is open from 11am until 4pm, will have new exhibitors, including Hunter House Cheese, Yorkshire Ceramics and the Weardale Soup Company.
Until September, markets will be held on the last Sunday of every month.
For more details, or to book a stall at the market, call Susan Semple, 01833-641000.
