POLICE have named a man who died after his car left the road and came to rest in a field.
William Patrick Robinson, 34, from Northallerton, was driving on the A684 towards the A19 when his white Ford Transit van, which had ladders on the roof, veered off the road and crashed about 50yds into a field.
It happened at about 2am last Friday just outside the village of Ellerbeck. No other vehicles were believed to have been involved. The road was closed for about six hours.
