A PHOTOGRAPHER has published a new book featuring dramatic images of a County Durham landmark.
High Force, a portrait in 35 pictures, by Martin Rogers, of Middleton-in-Teesdale, includes images taken over a ten-year period, including the waterfall in full spate, in sunlight, just after sunrise in midsummer, in beautiful autumn colours and winter snow and ice.
The A5 landscape-format book, which costs £5.95, is available from many outlets in Teesdale or directly from the author’s website, martinrogersphotography.co.uk, where the price includes free postage.
Martin, who is also author of Essential Teesdale, is giving a £1 donation to UTASS (Upper Teesdale Agricultural Services) from all online sales.
"I am lucky enough to live just down the road from High Force, which is one of the most popular visitor attractions in the region," he said.
"It is always an impressive sight, but sometimes it is utterly spectacular – and I visit regularly to capture those occasions, which only a small proportion of visitors will be lucky enough to encounter.
"This often requires going out in pretty foul weather, and you have to get up very early to see High Force in sunlight, as it is set in a cleft in the rock. I do these things so that others don't have to – but they can see what it's like through my pictures. And I know how popular High Force is with local people as well as visitors.
"This is a collection of my favourite images from the past decade."
