The A66 was closed on Tuesday (November 1) morning after a lorry shed its load during the busy morning commute.
The road in Darlington, between the Mowden Park Arena and the A67 was closed for around two hours after reports the HGV had shed its cargo just before 7am.

Eyewitnesses reported the vehicle’s steel frame having tipped onto the roundabout at Neasham Road as police advised motorists to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
One passing motorist said: “It had just happened as I went past at 7:15am. A lorry had tipped its steel frame load on to the roundabout.”
The road reopened around 10am after the cargo was cleared from the carriageway.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: “We were called shortly before 7am this morning after a lorry shed its load on the A66 in Darlington.
“The road was closed to allow it to be cleared. It has since reopened.”
