Children’s author, Gregory D Harris, visited Guisborough Bookshop to display his debut book, The Amazing Adventures of Billy Burro, on Saturday.
Mr Harris, who now lives in Saltburn, is a well-travelled man, having worked as a loss adjuster in Gibraltar and sailing yachts in the Caribbean, visiting Australia and New Zealand in his work. He is now retired and has achieved his ambition to write a book. In order to increase interest at the bookshop, Mr Harris brought a chocolate cake, inscribed with the title of his book to give to any interested children.
His book follows the progress of Billy, a young donkey in Blackpool, providing rides for children on the beach. Little did Billy know that his father had saved enough money to move to a place where most days of the year are filled with sunshine. Having arrived in the Costa del Sol in Spain, Billy falls in love with his new home in Mijas, where he meets a young Spanish bull and the book follows their adventures.
Born in Yorkshire, Mr Harris has run nine full marathons for children’s charities and has also just started performing in public, singing with his guitar.
The book retails for £6.99 and is available from Guisborough bookshop.
