Students enjoyed the chance to perform their own contemporary dance pieces.
Pupils from The Rhythm and Shoes Dance Academy, based on Gallowfields Trading Estate, Richmond, visited Dance City in Newcastle earlier this month to work with choreographer Emily Nicholson.
The students looked at different contemporary dance practitioners and created their own pieces, before delivering a performance to family members in the theatre at Dance City.
A spokesperson for the Richmond group said the pupils were "amazingly creative".

"It was commented by staff at Dance City how lovely all of our students are and how well they all worked together," added the spokesperson.
"It’s wonderful to be able to offer our students such experiences, being able to work with other professionals and visit different places to give our students a wide variety of experiences centred around their passion to dance.
"It’s also hugely beneficial for our older pupils, many of whom have, or will be taking GCSE dance and will perhaps go on to study dance at a higher level."
