North Yorkshire Under 15 girls hockey team were crowned North East champions at Leeds on Sunday, April 16.
Coaches say the team includes girls from schools across the whole of North Yorkshire who have come together to work as a formidable team.
Having beaten opponents from Durham, Humberside and Northumberland in the pool stages, the girls faced West Yorkshire in the semi-final and played well to record a 6-3 victory.
In the final against South Yorkshire, the team pressed the opposition and constructed a number of well worked goals.
Playing excellent hockey, the team ran out 8-1 winners and now go through to the North finals at the end of May.
Coach Frankie Marsh, said after the match she was very impressed by the whole team’s performance and it would be unfair to comment on individuals.
She added: "However, the way the players have performed has resulted in several of the girls being nominated for trials for the England Hockey Talent Academy. We wish them success with this."
