Author, Jenna Warren, from Saltburn visited Guisborough Bookshop recently to exhibit and sell copies of her debut novel, The Moon and the Stars.
Her book tells the story of Matthew, who struggles with chronic stage fright, although a tenor with a magnificent voice. He has only sung at night on the empty stage of the Moon and the Stars theatre., but his old singing partner, Angela, offers him the chance to perform in a nationwide tour.
His low self-esteem and anxiety stand in the way, but Matthew has a plan to sing in the shadows while his handsome friend, Ralph, takes to the stage with Angela, the woman of his dreams.
Jenna explained: “I have great love for the theatre, particularly musical theatre, and also the Phantom of the Opera. I’ve wanted to write a book for a very long time.
"I did a creative writing MA at Teesside University and I then went on and did some workshops with writers’ blocks in Middlesbrough. That’s where I started to warming to the idea so it’s been a long time in the making. I’m very pleased with it. I’m just happy to have it out there, I feel quite lucky.”
Jenna also works at the Book Corner bookshop in Saltburn. The book sells at £8.99, is published by Fairlight Books, and is available at both Guisborough Bookshop and the Book Corner.
