Trustee of The Living Rooms charity, Ryan Saunders, has come up with an innovative way to fundraise for its mission of promoting well-being.
Mr Saunders, an avid runner and advocate for mental health awareness, successfully applied for 35 charity places for this year’s Great North Run.
The Living Rooms is a "safe space" for members of the Northallerton community, and aims to help individuals manage their all-round wellbeing.
Mr Saunders, who has been open and honest about his own mental health journey, believes that it is through running and The Living Rooms that he is able to manage his own mental health more effectively.
The charity follows the five ways to wellbeing: to be active, to connect, to give, take notice, and keep learning.
Mr Saunders and his team of runners are keen to raise awareness and funds for The Living Rooms through the run, and make a positive impact on mental health in the local community.
The Living Rooms will provide updates on the runners' progress in the coming months, leading up to the big day on September 10.
Community members are welcome to pop into The Living Rooms, on Garthway Aracde, enjoy a drink, and meet up with others.
Those interested in helping to fundraise or sponsoring a runner can contact Jo Swain, or support Mr Saunders and other runners through the official Great North Run fundraising page.
