Visitors are being offered the chance to stroll through stunning riverside gardens and enjoy tasty food and live music, all while supporting efforts to buy a community building.
A private fundraising evening in aid of the appeal to buy Mashamshire Community Office (MCO) will take place at Jervaulx Hall Gardens on Tuesday, June 20.
The eight-acre gardens lie in the shadow of Jervaulx's 12th Century Cistercian Abbey and have views of the ruins and nearby River Ure.
They have undergone significant renovation over the last eight years, and include the restored ruins of the abbey corn drying kiln and the Victorian summer house, plus an extensive collection of contemporary sculpture.
Refreshments will be available during the day from Haregill Lodge Catering, with a contribution going to the Mashamshire Community Office fund, and there will be live music from local performers.
The evening is a private ticket only event from 3pm to 7pm with seats available on timed buses leaving Masham for an additional £5 charge. All tickets are available from MCO or online at www.wegottickets.com/event/581359.
Hayley Jackson, MCO manager, thanked the owners of Jervaulx Hall for offering to open up the garden in aid of the building appeal, and said: "Going through the process of fundraising for the Community Office building over this past year has brought people together in such an amazing way.
"Our community have driven this fundraising effort, people feel pride and ownership over this building, they value what our charity does here in Masham and what a central role we play in supporting our rural community. We knew it was important, but we’ve been able to see just how much it’s at the heart of the community and how much people care.
"The people of Masham see it as their building, and it’s really important to them that we retain it for the future."
