‘We don’t go to Turkey or Tenerife it’s the Great Yorkshire Show for our holidays.’
For 20-year-old Katie Willey and her dad Darren, there is nowhere else she would want to be because her three-year-old Clydesdale, Burdon Moor Matt is competing in the driving classes.
“He’s had his breakfast before me, had a bath before I get anywhere near a shower and I don’t care I worship the ground he walks on,” says Katie from Newcastle.
This is his third show and they have high hopes. “But it doesn’t matter if we don’t win, we just love to come. Because we’re farmers this is our holiday and Burdon absolutely loves it, he is so chilled and enthusiastic, he likes being the centre of attention. I spend an hour or two a day just looking after him but it is worth it.”
The family bred him from a Clydesdale recommended by well-known North East breeder and long-time friend Matt Robinson.
