Guests at Leyburn Library were treated to some homemade cakes to celebrate its recent refurbishment.
Since water damaged its roof, the library has not been at its best, however thanks to the determined team of approximately 35 volunteers, the facility soldiered on despite some areas not being fully available for use.
Now after repairs and redecorations were completed, the premises are back fully-functioning once more.
By way of a celebration, visitors and guests were invited to join in with an afternoon tea with homemade cakes made by the volunteers.
Leyburn Library is now open: Mondays, 10am to 4pm, Tuesdays, 10am to 6pm, Fridays, 10am to 4pm and Saturdays, 10am to 12pm.
Public computers are available when the library is open, with no booking required. Technical advice is available on Tuesdays from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, if booked in advance. Stories and craft activities for children up to five years are on alternate Saturdays , from 10.30am to 11.15am. Check the Library’s Facebook page for details, or call 01609 535971.
Cllr Karin Sedgwick, North Yorkshire Council’s representative for the area, said: “It is so good to see the library back looking smart and welcoming. Thanks should go to the dedicated team of volunteers who make it all work.”
