A fish and chip shop in Osmotherley, North Yorkshire has announced it will close due to rising costs once it runs out of stock.
Osmotherley Fish and Chip shop in Osmotherley, near Northallerton, last night announced it will be shutting its doors for good.
Owner Pam Jefferson announced the news “with a heavy heart” as she thanked her customers for their support over the past five years.
Her full post said: “After a great deal of thought and consideration, it is with a very heavy heart that I have to tell you, this will be my last week at the chippy. I have decided to hang up my fish scoop once and for all and close the shop.
“This is due to the ever-increasing costs and the downturn in trade. It is no longer viable for me to carry on.
“I would like to give my utmost thanks to my lovely customers that have continued to support me and my little venture over the past five years, also thank you to my wonderful staff, past and present I couldn't have done it without you.
“I have loved the chippy and everyone I have met along the way and I will miss it dearly, but its time to move on to pasture new. We will be open our usual hours this week or until we run out of fish.”
Followers of the shops page on Facebook have called the news “so sad” and said Pam makes “the best fish and chips around”.
