Plans have been submitted to North Yorkshire Council to convert a farm and its barns to eight homes.
The application seeks full planning permission for the plot, Manfield Barns, on Cottagers Lane, Manfield, to eight residential houses with associated parking and access.
According to a planning statement, the proposed site lies on the southern access road out of the village of Manfield where it sits outside development limits.
The farmstead comprises an early 18th Century two-storey farmhouse built of coursed stone, pantile, and slate roofs with associated farm buildings in brick, of courtyard design with decorative arched entrances.
There is an unsightly attached steel framed, breeze block and corrugated iron barn which hides most of the west elevation and breeze block pig sties.

A medieval settlement at Manfield survives well, and prominent earthworks are preserved in fields in and around the village.
Research was undertaken to assess the historic values of the Scheduled Monument, and it was concluded that the values were of 'medium significance'.
It was found 'neutral harm' was caused to the heritage asset by the proposals with no impact on its significance.
