A North East university has established a campus 250 miles away from its main building. 

Announcing the news on Friday (September 15) Teesside University revealed that its first students had started their journey at its new London campus.

A range of welcome activities have been taking place for students.

Events have included a tour of the Here East campus and Olympic Park to provide an opportunity for students to meet their course tutors and other students among their cohort.

Students were also invited to join a guided tour of some of London’s most renowned landmarks, including Trafalgar Square, St James’s Palace, Buckingham Palace, St James’s Park, Downing Street, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben.

Kathryn Elliott, head of partnerships at Teesside University London, said: “We have been thrilled to welcome the first students to our new campus. It’s been really exciting to meet them as they settle in and get involved in our welcome activities.

“We want to ensure our students take full advantage of the opportunities and networks available to them in London and to provide a welcoming environment for them to work and study.

Teesside University London is currently recruiting for its November intake of students.
