On what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year, Thirsk Rugby Club Juniors were hard at work raising funds by helping Tesco customers pack their shopping bags.
Susan Dougherty, who ran the event at Thirsk Tesco alongside fellow coach Max Green, said: "We’ve done this a few times now and have always received fantastic support from the people of Thirsk.
"I think they appreciate that we are willing put in the effort to raise funds ourselves and that we don’t just expect something for nothing. It’s a great chance for us to interact with the local community.
"The emphasis of the junior section has always been to provide a safe and inclusive environment for kids to enjoy playing rugby.

"It’s such a family friendly club.
"We are constantly investing in kit, equipment and social activities in order to achieve this goal."
Over the summer months the club, based at Thirsk Athletic Club on Newsham Road, has been getting its second pitch ready for the start of the junior season and is now welcoming youngsters aged from three to teenagers every Sunday morning for an hour's training, with Micros from 9.30am and under sevens to under 16s from 10am.
