The inquests of two members of a Ukrainian family who were killed in a crash on the A61 near Ripon have been opened.
Daria Bartienieva, 35 and her son, Ihor Bartienieva, six, died at the scene after the Vauxhall Meriva they were travelling in was involved in a three-vehicle collision with a bus and another car on the A-road in South Stainley on Sunday, September 3.
On Monday (September 25), the inquests into both Daria and Ihor were opened at North Yorkshire Coroners Court in Northallerton.
In the short hearings, John Heath, the senior coroner for North Yorkshire, set out basic details of the incident on September 3, as well as confirming that both were residents of Ripon.
Mr Heath noted in the provisional cause of death that the mother and son died of several injuries, including blunt force trauma as a result of the collision.
Both inquests were adjourned to a date that is yet to be fixed.
No inquest date, either an opening or full inquest, was set for a third member of the Bartienieva family, Daria’s stepdaughter Anastasiia, who was also killed in the A61 crash.
In the three and a half weeks since the crash, tributes have been coming in from the Ripon community for the Bartienieva family, with a floral tribute left at the scene of the collision on the A61, while Holy Trinity Church in the city dedicated a space for people to light a candle and pay their respects shortly after the incident.

The school of Ihor, six, have also paid tribute to him – calling their former pupil a "little sparkle of joy" that had "boundless energy".
Tracey Calland-Booke, his year 1 class teacher, said: "Ihor will be remembered by his classmates as a funny, chatty little boy who was loved by us all.
"We were all in awe of this little spark of joy who really brought something special to our class.
"Pupils were drawn to his chatty, charismatic character."
Executive headteacher at Holy Trinity School in Ripon, Sue Sanderson, added: "Our thoughts and prayers are with Ihor’s family and friends.

"This devastating event has affected everyone within our community, and we are all now attempting to come to terms with our loss together.
"Staff and pupils have visited the poignant reflection space created by Holy Trinity Church to light a candle, say a prayer and share our happy memories of such a special little boy and his family.
"We will continue to seek support and comfort in our church and school community."
