This was the colourful scene in Reeth at the weekend as PINKtober in the Dales got into full swing.

The month-long fundraising campaign is being run by the family of Helen Ashton, who died from cancer aged 13. Her mother, June Ashton, has been raising funds for Cancer Research UK (CR UK) for years in Helen's memory.

This year with the support of the community, June has decided to turn Reeth pink, and local businesses and groups have got on board.

PINKtober is particularly raising funds for CR UK’s Breast Cancer Research and the importance of spotting the signs of breast cancer early.

The events were launched on Saturday with a pink cream tea and choir performance at St Andrew's Church in Grinton, which raised £1,161 for the breast cancer appeal and £972 for the church restoration fund.

June said: "Thank you Dales for all of your support, you are amazing."
