A burglar who broke into a village Post Office in the early hours of Monday morning stole a "large quantity" of cigarettes and cash.
Police are investigating the incident on Richmond Road, Brompton-on-Swale, near Richmond.
The burglary suspect was described as a male wearing a black puffer style coat, dark Nike jogging bottoms, light coloured shoes, gloves, and a balaclava.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The offender forced entry to the premises and removing a large quantity of cigarettes and cash. The offender is thought to have made off from the scene towards the A6055.
"Officers are currently at the scene completing CCTV enquires and identifying any forensic opportunities.
"We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
In particular, we are appealing for information, CCTV, or dashcam which may assist in identifying the offender.
