Organisers of a popular car show have announced a new link-up with Whitby & District Motor Club.
It will be the first time that the club, formed in 1969, will be in the expanding exhibitor line-up of Classics on Show in Stokesley.
The 2024 event will take place on the town's showfield on Saturday, June 15.
The motor club, which now meets month at the Fox and Hounds at Ainthorpe, has members predominately from the East Cleveland and Whitby areas, though some come from further afield including Sheffield, Malton and even Spain.
Chairman David Scrimgour is aiming to have at least six to eight competition cars in its line-up. “With the time we have, we would hope to improve on that number,” he added. “Hopefully getting the club into an event like Stokesley’s Classic on Show will attract more members.”
Although the club is predominately Stage Rally based, it welcomes any form of motorsport. At a club level it runs navigational events in winter and auto tests through the summer with marshalling events for other clubs.
Classics on Show, which is organised by Stokesley Rotary, set an attendance record at its June event with more than 800 exhibits and 3,000 visitors.
Show spokesperson Chris Mayes said: “We thrilled to welcome the Whitby & District Motor Club to our ever-growing Classics on Show family. This has got our 2024 campaign off to a brilliant start – more exciting news will follow. We are also keen to hear from any potential sponsors who want to get behind a fabulous event which attracts a big audience, raises money for worthy charities, and delivers a great day out for young and old.”
