A community group giving vital help to people in the Thirsk area is gearing up for a busy Christmas with the help of elves Nut and Meg, who will be sharing on social media the work they do - and helping to raise funds.
For 20 years Community Works has been based in Thirsk, supporting local people in need. Now the services offered to the community include dementia day care, a food bank, a community transport scheme, a women's project, Meals on Wheels, a second-hand furniture store and various projects aimed at helping people get into work, develop budgeting skills, and cope with the cost-of-living crisis.
Nut and Meg are part of this year's Christmas fundraiser. From December 1, 20short videos, one a day, will be put on social media highlighting the support given by Community Works.
They are the idea of operations manager Kirsty White, who said: "Every day amongst our staff team and volunteers we help so many people who are in need, and it's an amazing story that we have to tell.
"We are delighted that Father Christmas has sent Nut and Meg to us this year to highlight what we do, but also they are going to get up to a lot of mischief. There is even a rumour that our chief exec will be glitter bombed at some stage in one of the videos. We really hope that people will follow us on our social media, watch the videos amongst their families and friends and of course donate a few pounds each day to help us do what we do."
