A County Durham library has closed its doors for five weeks to carry out essential repairs and renovations at the facility.

Durham County Council has revealed that Bishop Auckland Town Hall Library will be closed for five weeks, as people have been warned that they could be left without certain services throughout that timeframe.

The library was closed on Monday (January 15) and is scheduled to reopen on February 19, following repairs to the internal and external areas of the library.

A spokesperson for Durham County Council said: "Bishop Auckland Town Hall library will be closing for approximately five weeks from Monday, January 15. This is to enable us to carry out essential repairs."

During the closure, the library will be operating a click and collect service to enable customers to make and collect reservations from 10am-2pm, Monday to Saturday from the Town Hall Box Office.

Customers who require computer use or book browsing should use a nearby library – the nearest are located at Woodhouse Close, Coundon and Shildon.
