Retrospective plans to convert and reconfigure a former pub to a six-bed house of multiple occupancy have been submitted to Darlington Borough Council.
The plans relate to The Albion, in 16 Yarm Road, Darlington, a two-storey, end-of-terrace property at the corner of Yarm Road and St. John’s Crescent.
The ground floor comprises a bar, kitchen, office, and toilets. The first floor comprises four rooms, enabling the pub to offer bed and breakfast.
According to a planning statement, it is currently anticipated that the rooms would be made available for rent on the open market.
The change of use would primarily be achieved through internal alterations, including the creation of two ground floor bedrooms and the provision of bathrooms and cooking facilities.
Some facilities would be shared. A refuse store would also be created at ground floor level.
A limited number of external alterations are proposed, including the replacement of one non-opening ground floor window with an opening window on the eastern elevation; the replacement of one external door with a window to the rear; and the installation of one external door to the rear.
