Our readers have had their say on the clearest signs you’re a Darlington native – do you agree?
The Northern Echo asked its readers on Thursday (February 1) what are some signs you are from the area.
They were met with a mix of responses, with some residents pointing to the best places in town to grab a bite, while others pointed to its nightlife history.
One reader said: “Knowing Taylor’s make the best pork pies.”
Another reader said: “Because we call it ‘Darlo’ and remember the Mardi Gras nightclub.”
Meanwhile, another reader agreed and reminisced about “carpet burger outside Mardi Gras at 2am.”

While another reader pointed to one of the town centre’s most cherished locations, which closed its doors last year, Guru’s Boutique.
They said: “You got your wedding dress at Guru Boutique.”
Another reader jokingly said: ”You think potholes on roads are normal,” while another resident spoke of the difficulty to get a taxt out of the area.
