An investigation has been launched after a rural County Durham road was blocked by a fly-tip issue.
Police enforcement officers and Durham County Council wardens were called to the environmental incident over the weekend, which took place at Halfway House Layby between Wolsingham and Frosterley.
The incident, which is now under investigation, saw tyres, furniture and electrical items ditched on the stretch of road on Saturday (February 10) that stretched over the road.
During that time, no traffic could get through the road, due to the fly-tipping blocking it.
Durham County Council have now launched an investigation - looking into who is responsible for the fly-tipping.
Now that the investigation is taking place, Durham County Council's wardens group have warned others about disposing of their rubbish correctly.
A spokesperson for Durham County Council wardens said: "Our crews came across this flytipping at Halfway House Layby Wolsingham-Frosterley.
